Since the 29th of November, we the three political prisoners of the underground special wing 6 of Koridallos, defendants for the case of Revolutionary Struggle, participated in the mobilizations of the prisoners of all prisons which either with prison food abstention, or with hunger strikes fight for the improvement of certain provisions of the C.C. (Correctional Code) regarding the leave days, the probations and disciplinary matters, decent treatment and improvement of the detainment conditions, the abolition of certain draconian penal provisions, special detainment conditions, reduction of the life sentence as well as the release of disabled prisoners and cancer patients.
In the frames of these demands it is also claimed that the special antiterrorist legislations that occasionally have been voted are abolished, with most recent those that passed in August that the “progressive” Kastanidis passed secretly and where its allowed for anonymous witnesses to testify in trials of cases of armed revolutionary organizations and “organized crime” as well as the penalization of violent action of demonstrators in mass mobilizations as “terrorist actions”.
Is not not accidental the situation in which they passed these two provisions since the present minister of “Justice” Kastanidis participates in a government of traitors of the Greek people that executes the commands of the lenders of the international economic elite.
It is natural that along with the application of the Memorandum, the repression of the state for the defense of the regime since they await social explosions that can put at risk its existence itself.
Also among the demands of the prisoners is the abolishment of the special regime of detainment of political prisoners whether its the special wing in the F.P.K. (female prisons of koridallos) where are detained the sentenced for the 17N (17November organization), or the basement of the 6th wing.
The 6th wing is an isolated small wing and the basement in which we are kept has 8 cells of 2 people.
The 6th was a building – warehouse which was transformed into a detainment space in 2002 when the 17N arrests happened.
For many months, the arrested of the 17N experienced a regime of isolation where they were locked in the cells 23 hours a day, without free access to information and correspondence, while to the courtyard – grave 20 x 10 meters that sees only to the sky through a barbwire, they came out 1 hour 2 people at a time and with the escort of a prison guard.
Even though this special regime was abolished, the basement of the 6th continues to function despite all the insufficiencies of the building infrastructure in air, lighting and the big tightness of space since outside the cells only a narrow corridor 10 x 2,5 m for the prisoners to walk.
As anyone can realize we have the same space that the domestic animals have in a cage or in a pen.
To the basement of the 6th, the prison authorities sends either prisoners like us political, with the decision of the ministry, or prisoners that are branded dangerous (e.g. to escape) and are sent here for isolation, or prisoners which have problems with other prisoners from other wings.
Despite all this, recently, the prison authorities have crammed 20 detainees in the basement of the 6th, putting a third person in the cells of two, which slept in the floor while the maximum capacity is 16 individuals in such a narrow space.
On Friday the 10th of December in the afternoon, some of us protested this situation to the sergeant on shift who although justified us regarding that this situation offends human dignity, declared to us he cannot do anything because there is no other space to put the extra prisoners.
After few hours and just before the prison closed, we were informed that the minister of “Justice” of the troika, Kastanidis, is visiting the prisons of koridallos to “discuss” with a “delegation” of detainees the demands which have been placed with the mobilizations that are taking place all over greece in all prisons.
Then we decided the 19 prisoners of the basement, with common defiance, to deny to enter the cells at 8.00pm in the evening as sais the regulation of the prison and we demanded that the minister himself to come and visits the basement of the 6th and see the situation for himself.
Since we realize that the minister came to koridallos in order to make another political “communication funfair” meeting with a non-existent “elected self-organized committee of struggle”, we denied as it was proposed to us by the prison authorities that 2 individuals go as representatives of the basement of the 6th and we insisted that he should come down to the basement and that we will not enter the cells if he does not come. We had no intention to “discuss” with someone that, because of his political identity, the fake promises and the “i will” is his profession, e.g. he had promised when he was in the opposition to abolish the “hoodlaw” (law which says that if you cause damage while wearing a hood or mask, its a terrorist action) while now as minister of the troika of the International Monetary Fund, European Central Bank. and the E.U. applies even more draconian laws.
Naturally our demand that the minister comes to the basement of the 6th was not accepted either because the “honorable” minister denied, or because the sergeant denied to transmit our demand.
We then decided that we are not going to enter the cells all night if the basement of the 6th is not relieved of the overcrowding, which means the transport of the extra prisoners, something that finally happened at 11.30 at night.
Nothing of course guarantees that we will not have similar situations in the future.
The obvious that we demand is dignity and this consists the abolishment of the basement of the 6th wing, the abolishment of the special division where they keep the sentenced of the 17N, the abolishment of every special regime of detainment for any category of prisoners, while we support all the demands of our fellow prisoners that participate in the mobilizations.
The most and real criminals are not behind the prison walls. The real robbers and murderers, those that rob the greek people, that plunder the wages and the pensions, those that deprive the care and health, are in the “Megaro Maximou” (maximou mansion, the greek equivalent of the white house, in the ministerial offices, in the seats of parliament, in the bourgeois districts, in the villas and in the luxurious offices of the bankers, the businessmen and the shipowners.

Atene – Lettera dalla sezione speciale del 6° braccio della prigione di Koridallos
Dal 29 Novembre, siamo tre prigionieri politici nel 6° braccio di detenzione speciale della prigione di Koridallos, imputati nel caso di Lotta Rivoluzionaria, abbiamo partecipato alle mobilitazioni dei detenuti di tutte le prigioni tramite l’astensione dal cibo della prigione o lo sciopero della fame per ottenere l’applicazione delle normativa del Correctional Code riguardanti i giorni di permesso, le pene e le questioni disciplinari, un trattamento decente e un miglioramento delle condizioni di detenzione, l’abolizione delle pene draconiane, il regime di detenzione speciale, la riduzione dell’ergastolo e il rilascio dei prigionieri disabili o malati di cancro.
Nel quadro di queste richieste reclamiamo l’abolizione delle leggi speciali antiterroriste che sono state votate, di quelle più recenti passate in Agosto e che il “progressista” Kastanidis ha approvato di nascosto e il fatto che sia concesso a testimoni anonimi di testimoniare nei processi dei casi di organizzazioni armate rivoluzionarie e “crimine organizzato” così come in quelli di criminalizzazione delle azioni violente, considerate “azioni terroriste”, dei dimostranti durante le mobilitazioni di massa.
Non è un caso che il momento nel quale sono state approvate queste due disposizioni vede l’attuale ministro della “Giustizia” Kastanidis partecipare al governo dei traditori del popolo greco ed eseguire i comandi dei dirigenti dell’élite economica internazionale.
È naturale che con l’applicazione del Memorandum, la repressione di stato per la difesa del regime si aspetta conflitti sociali che posso mettere a rischio la sua stessa esistenza.
Tra le richieste dei prigionieri c’è anche l’abolizione del regime di detenzione speciale dei prigionieri politici, incluso il regime speciale nella prigione femminile di Koridallos dove esse sono detenute per il caso dell’Organizzazione 17 Novembre, o nel padiglione del 6° braccio.
Il 6° braccio è un braccio piccolo e isolato, il nostro settore contiene 8 celle da 2 persone.
Il 6° braccio era un deposito che poi è stato trasformato in celle di detenzione nel 2002 dopo gli arresti della 17 Novembre.
Per molti mesi, gli arrestati della 17 Novembre hanno subito un regime di isolamento e la chiusura nelle celle per 23 ore al giorni, senza un libero accesso alle informazioni e alla corrispondenza, mentre nel cortile, una fosse di 20 metri per 10 dalla quale il cielo si vede solo attraverso il filo spinato, sono potuti andare a coppia per la durata di 1 ora con la scorta di un secondino.
Anche se questo regime fosse abolito, la sezione del 6° braccio continuerebbe la sua funzione nonostante l’insufficienza delle infrastrutture a causa della limitatezza di aria, luce e spazi, fuori dalle celle c’è solo uno stretto corridoio percorribile di 10 metri per 2,5.
Come chiunque può capire abbiamo lo stesso spazio che gli animali domestici hanno in una gabbia o in un recinto.
Nella sezione del 6° braccio, le autorità penitenziarie spediscono i detenuti politici, col benestare del ministro, o i prigionieri considerati pericolosi (con pericolo di fuga) e che sono mandati li in isolamento, o prigionieri che hanno problemi con altri prigionieri negli altri settori.
Oltre tutto ciò, recentemente, le autorità penitenziarie hanno ammassato 20 detenuti nella sezione del 6° braccio, inserendo una terza persona in celle da due, la quale dorme per terra, mentre la capienza massima sarebbe di 16 persone in questo spazio limitato.
Nel pomeriggio del 10 Dicembre, alcuni di noi si sono lamentati della situazione con il sergente di turno che pur giustificandoci dicendo che la situazione offende la dignità umana, ci ha detto che non può far nulla perché non c’è altro spazio per mettere i prigionieri in soprannumero.
Dopo alcune ore e appena prima che la prigione chiudesse, siamo stati informati che il ministro della “Giustizia” della troika, Kastanidis, stava visitando la prigione di Koridallos per “discutere” con una “delegazione” di detenuti le richieste che erano state lanciate durante la mobilitazione che ha avuto luogo in tutte le prigioni greche.
In seguito abbiamo convinto i 19 prigionieri della sezione, come provocazione collettiva, a rifiutare di entrare nelle celle alle ore 20 come dice il regolamento della prigione e abbiamo richiesto che il ministro in persona venisse a visitare la sezione del 6° braccio per vedere la situazione con i suoi stessi occhi.
Da quando abbiamo capito che il ministro sarebbe venuto a Koridallos giusto per fare l’ennesimo politico “incontro di facciata” incontrandosi con un non esistente comitato di lotta auto-organizzato, abbiamo rifiutato di farci usare dalle autorità penitenziarie inviando due rappresentanti della sezione del 6° braccio, insistendo che sarebbe dovuto scendere giù lui e che noi non saremmo rientrati in cella se ciò non sarebbe avvenuto. Non avevamo intenzione di “discutere” con uno così, per via della sua identità politica, false promesse e i “lo farò” tipici della sua professione, visto che lui ha promesso quando era all’opposizione che avrebbe abolito la “Legge Cappuccio” ( la quale dice che se provochi dei danni mentre indossi una maschera o un cappuccio, compi un’azione terroristica ) mentre ora, che è diventato ministro della troika del Fondo Monetario Internazionale, della Banca Centrale Europea e dell’Unione Europea, applica leggi ancora più draconiane.
Dopo abbiamo deciso che non saremmo rientrati nelle celle tutta la notte se la sezione del 6° braccio non fosse stata risolto il problema del sovraffollamento, che significa il trasporto dei prigionieri in soprannumero, qualcosa che è accaduto alla fine verso le 23.30.
Niente del genere garantisce che non ci troveremo in futuro in situazioni simili.
Ovviamente chiediamo dignità e questa consista nell’abolizione della sezione del 6° braccio, l’abolizione del regime speciale dove sono rinchiusi gli accusati della 17 Novembre, l’abolizione di ogni regime speciale di detenzione per ogni tipo di prigioniero, proprio perché diamo supporto alle richieste dei nostri compagni prigionieri che partecipano alle mobilitazioni.
I veri criminali non stanno dietro le sbarre della prigione. I veri ladri e assassini, quelli che rubano al popolo greco, quelli che saccheggiano gli stipendi e le pensioni, quelli che smantellano il sistema sanitario, sono nel “Megaro Maximou” ( ovvero l’equivalente greco della Casa Bianca ), negli uffici ministeriali, nei seggi in parlamento, nei quartieri residenziali, nelle ville e negli uffici lussuosi dei banchieri, degli uomini d’affari e degli armatori.
